Maui’s Modern Attractions
It’s hard to believe that the lush land you’ll find in Kihei and Wailea was once dry and arid. Today opulent homes, the finest hotels and spas, championship golf and tennis, exclusive shops and fine dining are nearly as abundant as the tropical fish that swim along the reefs.
Now several major airlines offer daily nonstop flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland and Seattle, so getting to Maui is easier than ever before. Once you arrive, rental cars and limousine services are available throughout the island.
The Perfect Resort Destination
Wailea is truly among the finest resort destinations anywhere. Condé Nast Traveler‘s annual Readers’ Choice Awards Polls have ranked Maui as the “Best Island in the World” for more than five years in a row. Travel & Leisure readers similarly agreed and with good reason. The most discriminating travelers know Maui is breathtakingly beautiful and offers every amenity and activity one could desire, yet it retains the charm of an era gone by.
Scuba divers and snorkelers will enjoy the wonders of the beautiful crystal blue waters that surround Maui. Underwater game reserves at Molokini and Manele Bay on the island of Lana’i are teeming with rare and exotic species indigenous to Hawaii. You’ll also find wonderful snorkeling and diving along the shoreline of our magnificent property. There are few places better on earth to windsurf than Maui. Some of the best locales for this sport are moments away from our Sunny Surf home.
Activities, Shopping, and Family Experiences
Hiking, cave exploring, nature walks, and horseback riding adventures are among the many activities that are available nearby. Historical sites, religious heiaus and ancient petroglyph fields can be part of any vacation experience. Maui also offers excellent hunting and tournament level sport fishing. Of course, championship golf and tennis are also within easy reach.
Maui has shopping to match that of any fashion Mecca in the world. From The Shops at Wailea to Whalers Village in Kaanapali, you’ll find many of the same shops you would find in London, Paris, or New York. In addition, you’ll also see Hawaiian arts and crafts that can only be found on Maui.
Things to do with the children, or “keiki” as they are called in Hawaiian, are numerous. Maui boasts multiplex theaters in Kihei, Kahului, and Lahaina. Maui Ocean Center, the Hawaiian aquarium, is less than half an hour away in Ma’alaea. The Maui Arts & Cultural Center features some of the finest performers, plays, and musical entertainment from the islands and around the world.
A Melting Pot of Culture and Cuisine
Hawaii is often referred to as “The Melting Pot of the Pacific,” because it is comprised of so many different ethnic groups including Hawaiian, Japanese, Chinese, Portuguese, Latino, Filipino, Polynesians, and Caucasians. This not only makes for an interesting blend of cultures, it also makes forwonderfully diverse gourmet dining experiences! Maui restaurants are truly some of the finest restaurants in the world.
For most, there is more to do than you can fit into a single vacation – perhaps that is why visitors return to Maui again and again. Maui is truly a playground in paradise for the young at heart. Relax, have fun, and enjoy yourself. That’s what Maui and our lovely vacation homes are all about.
